Mother's ruin

Dolly has got her very first morning at pre-school tomorrow; these are the thoughts I have had in the last hour:
  • Gin without tonic is hard on the stomach
  • I've now got to make two packed lunches instead of just one
  • My nose feels hot
  • What the hell am I going to do tomorrow with no kids, for three whole hours?
  • This sausage stew I just made is disgusting
  • I hope Dolly behaves herself tomorrow
  • Perhaps Tom and I could go for a long leisurely breakfast with newspapers
  • I will find an empty house very weird
  • I can so see why women keep having babies
  • I need another gin
  • I will need to start thinking about getting a job
  • There are bits of dried mud all over the carpet
  • Maybe I should have another baby
  • I wonder if Dolly will miss me
  • An iPad would cheer me up
  • This gin is horrible
  • Betty will look after her

no more gin for you...

Give it a few days and you'll happily be drinking lots of tea and watching Jeremy Kyle.

I think a little carton of juice in her packed lunch might be better than the gin!

I felt the same way when my second one went to kindergarten. You will survive this, but stay away from the gin.

You will wander around like a lost soul for a while, but trust me when I say that it will not take you so long to start enjoying that small patch of space!

Don't be so hard on yourself! I bet the sausage stew just doesn't match well with a gin. Try a nice chianti! :-)

Was she very very over excited this morning? Hope so (clearly in a good way of course, not in a driving you nuts by bouncing off the walls, you losing the rag kind of way!)

Three free hours to try making baby No3?

Had to laugh at the two packed lunches! My husband and I are constantly trading over who gets that privilege. Just wait til you're making two DIFFERENT packed lunches because 'I don't want strawberry yogurt' or 'I want tomatoes not carrots'. Good times.

You'll be fine - and you'll soon find the day just fills up with stuff. Now that I'm working again, I can't really remember what I was doing before but I know I was always busy! The secret to 2 packed lunches? - give them the same thing - every day.....

Hope Dolly had a good day. x
