Curry fantasy

I was a little perplexed this morning when I went into Betty's room, as it smelt just like our room does the morning after Tom has been on the curry and beer.

When I picked Betty out of her cot, she let out her mandatory, very energetic, morning greeting, and I was almost knocked down by her rather unpleasant, garlic breath. It felt far too grown-up and horrible to be the breath of a one year old, and I just couldn’t think where it might have come from.

We have had our suspicions that Betty is a woodland creature (she closely resembled one when she was a few weeks old) and that at night she sneaks off to the woods behind our house and plays with the squirrels and rabbits. Perhaps last night was ‘curry night’ in the woods?

I felt happy and satisfied with this explanation of magical fantasy - I love the idea of Betty playing and eating with her woodland friends. However, when I mentioned the whole garlic/wood thing to Tom, he ruined it all and told me that it was him that had been feeding her garlic yesterday, not her furry friends.

She must be the fairy among them?

Full credit to Tom for getting Betty to eat garlic. We still struggle to get Beanie (20 months) to eat anything other than Fromage Frais and bread.

Ah! Hahaha! I've had the same experience... very unsettling on a baby. They do love garlic though... least it'll keep the vampires at bay while she's out in the woods with her friends...

Brilliant. Betty's already developing grown up tastes now that she's one! Love the idea of a woodland curry night.

Ah, the darling girl! I love the idea of Betty being a woodland creature. I thought that my baby girl Freya looked like a rosebud when she was folded up in her cot - the way that babies pull themselves into the shape of a tiny bean...

You know I would never change my labels dear heart, I would never ever refer to my darling perfect husband as a fatty bum ;) he would be terribly offended!

That brings up an interesting question. Why is it that baby's morning breath doesn't smell ghastly like ours? Now I'm perplexed.

I can see it now - babies and furry creatures dancing in the moonlight!

This reminds me of the pictures in the "Alice in Wonderland" book. The Bunny rabbit, squirrels with the furry tail and other such animals and betty having a tea party. and the big mushroom serving as their table. so nice...

Oh that was funny. I love the idea of her out in the woods with all her friends, instead of eating Daddy's garlic concoctions!

Trust a man to spoil the magical moment!

Yes, but Elsie this is the man who fondly imagined his child would treat him with awe and respect, and his judgement is therefore very suspect. He might well be fibbing about the garlic. And he did mention hallucinations in his guest post. Do you think he also has night-time woodland escapades, in which magic mushrooms play a part?

garlic breath is unnerving in a small one isn't it? Mine often smell of it and i console myself by thinking it shows they're not fussy eaters, it's good for their hearts...and I can't wait till they're old enough to chew gum and erase the smell!
